Celebrate Katniss and Peeta's Victory Tour visit to District 7 in Capitol-sanctioned sartorial splendor!
Direct from Capitol Couture - the latest in lumber-chic from District 7:
Is that mahogany we see?? The plates on this smooth jacket, comprised of the finest-grain wood from the forests of Panem, could only have been crafted by the small, nimble hands of a District 7 craftsperson. Ferocious victor Johanna Mason would certainly smolder beside a Capitol consort adorned in this wooden masterpiece.
Victors of the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, arrived in District 7 today to much fanfare.
They were warmly and reverently greeted by the children of District 7, who were treated to the morning out of school to meet their heroes.

Mayor Lindberg’s daughter Madeline and one of her classmates presented Miss Everdeen with a bouquet of pinecones foraged by the children of the Lumber District.
Representatives of the Western Carpentry College presented Mr Mellark with a perfectly carved two-inch replica of his Victor’s crown.
Katniss and Peeta were then given a tour of the lumberyard itself. District 12’s second male victor showed great interest in the storage room where thousands of samples of different timber specimens are kept before they are shipped to the export train.
Mr Mellark cracked a joke with the foreman about a wobbly leg on his dining table at home and was promised a replacement though, of course, this will need to be put to the Distribution Department first.
Haymitch Abernathy, winner of the second Quarter Quell and mentor of this year’s winners, was keen to see his mentoring friends, and rushed past the Capitol press without a word.

After the reception, Everdeen and Mellark took to the stage to greet the District’s citizens and deliver their speeches, in their mission to thank Panem for their support.
Their train was scheduled to leave soon after, so, following a burst of polite applause, the Victors retired to continue their tour across Panem.
Katniss and Peeta are expected next in District 6.
The Victory Tour has reached District 6. From Capitol Couture comes a brand new Victory Tour District look, inspired by our Transportation hub
“At the next stop on our Tour, District 6 reminds us to get on board and always accessorize. Headdresses and hats are in, in, in this season- so buckle up and transport yourself to style nirvana with this heavenly helmet inspired by the only District that knows how to get you there.”
Tickets, please!
Katniss and Peeta are in Panem's Transport provider, District 6.
The bespoke Victory Train returned home today for the first time since its production. Fans of Panem’s famous locomotives are well aware that the Victory Train needed a revamp this year to incorporate an additional bedroom and living space for this year’s extra Victor. Lucky District 6 workers were able to bring designer Stephano Trevithick’s blueprints to life in only a matter of weeks.
President Snow, as we know, is a dedicated ‘Trainspotter’ so the foreman of the yard reverently announced the name of every engine for the cameras as though he was revealing the attendance list of a prestigious Capitol party. He advised Everdeen and Mellark, if they were engaged in conversation with the President, to mention ‘Georgie May’, the engine that took him on his Inauguration Tour. Rumour has it that Snow dropped by a few weeks ago, before the Victory Tour, just to say hello to ‘old Georgie May’.

Straight from the train yard, Katniss and Peeta were whisked away to the automobile plant where they observed the production line in full motion. Katniss had many questions about the mechanics of the vehicles but, unfortunately, was denied a request to drive one.
The cable cars that run through the streets of District 6 were of particular interest to the young couple. Peeta leaned out of the car to wave to the citizens lining the street, while Katniss held on to his arm tightly to keep her beloved inside and safe and sound.
While the nation watched the Victors dance together at the lavish reception on their televisions, a few fortunate District 6 citizens were chosen by lottery to attend the event in person. Escort Effie Trinket was overheard giving tips on how to have ‘fashionable bangs’ to a working mother of six.
After the usual meal and speeches, Katniss and Peeta canoodled in a corner, desperate to be alone. Unfortunately, it was time for them to move on, back to their faithful District 6-born train and they were soon District 5 bound.

That structure! That styling! Picking a coif to match your chosen skin tint is chic and elegant- a real Capitol fashion statement. The latest from Capitol Couture - it's Oh So Capitol!
For Cinna, fashion isn’t simply a career. It’s a calling. “I always channel my emotions into my work,” he says.
When it was announced that he would be styling the tributes of District 12 in the 74th Hunger Games, many Capitol observers were confused; just who was this mysterious stylist taking over District 12 duties?
Yet for Cinna it was a chance to prove himself, and this unique opportunity has paid off in spades. After the unprecedented dual victory of Katniss and Peeta, he has become the Capitol’s most sought after designer, his iconic “girl on fire” dress quickly making him a household name. In fact, many of the Capitol’s fashion elite wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anyone else these days.
And what surprising inspiration does Cinna credit for that fiery creation? The coal mines of Katniss’s District 12: “What do we do with coal?” he asks. “We burn it.”
As the entire Capitol, and the more fashionable District citizenry, awaits his next move with bated breath, the fashion phenom is playing things close to his fabulously dressed chest. When asked what’s in store for the newly-minted style guru, Cinna’s been known to simply shrug and smile coyly – silently reassuring us that whatever it is will leave us awestruck. Until then, keep twirling…

Imbued with energetic expression down to its very core, this structured overcoat evokes the power cells of District 5. Arrive at your Capitol Victory Tour Celebration in style and create a buzz in this truly photovoltaic piece.
What the frack?! Katniss and Peeta have arrived at the home of Panem’s power, District 5.
District 5’s welcome for the Victors today seemed to be the most muted of the Victory Tour so far, but only because they could spare just half an hour to greet the arriving heroes. If the people of our powerful fifth district took too much time off, there’d be rolling blackouts in the Capitol and those eyelashes just wouldn’t look right if the curlers weren’t heated would they?
On the way to the district’s largest wind farm, Mayor Clarke gave Katniss and Peeta a crash course in Hydraulic Fracturing, a method of releasing natural gas and petroleum by breaking through rocks. The Mayor himself is credited with creating a machine, similar to that of the ‘fracking’ equipment, which increases the yield of drinking water from wells using the same technology, a design now used all over Panem. Lets remember that District 3 are not the only innovators in our modern society.
Katniss and Peeta are "blown away" by District 5's largest wind farm
Peeta was overheard commenting on the peacefulness of the wind farm, admitting to being afraid he would be blown away!
Katniss and Peeta are treated to a look at Panem's power grid.
Under cover of the Control Centre, the young couple were shown the blinking lights of the nation’s power on the enormous grid. Katniss excitedly pointed out District 12 on the map, and Peeta asked whether the lights aglow on that section might be the electric fence that protects the district from the wilds beyond. They were told that they probably were but the wind farm was not the only provider for the area.
The two were then whisked away like lightning to take a tour of the goliath hydroelectric power station. Almost a quarter of the size of the Capitol, the grounds of the station stands on the Cresta Dam, renamed after the victory of Annie Cresta following a broken dam in the 70th Annual Hunger Games.
The magnificent Cresta Dam
The Power Station Operator explained to the visitors how, during the Hunger Games broadcast, he remains in constant contact with the Gamemakers for scheduling purposes. He has to ensure that the grid has enough power in storage for the inevitable surge at the beginning of the day’s highlights, when everybody switches on their televisions to catch up with their favourite Tributes.
By the time Katniss and Peeta returned to the Justice Building, the night shift had taken over, so the day shift workers were gathered to greet them. The stage glowed with twinkle lights, powered by the stations they had just visited, as Mellark and Everdeen delivered their speeches once more in the ethereal radiance.
It is only a short ride to District 4 so the Victory Train is expected to arrive at sunrise in Panem’s fishing district.

It's Fashion Friday and Capitol Couture brings us two looks, either one sure to be a hit at any fabulous soiree you attend this weekend!
First up, a look from Stafano-Moro. Color at its finest! Choosing a kaleidoscopic ensemble radiates your natural confidence. A little birdie told us feathers are the upcoming “it” factor this summer- rock that plumage with Capitol pride.
In honor of the Victory Tour stop in District 4 comes something I'm sure we'd all LOVE to see on our dashing victor, Finnick Odair! Less is more for this minimalist top; dive deep into summer style with this netted pullover and expose yourself to that perfect Capitol sun.
Inspired by Effie Trinket’s endless supply of perfect coiffures, Capitol Couture presents a guide to choosing the right wig. Forget those drab locks you were born with and get fab with these simple steps!
1. Face Shapes (Fig. 1)
a. Oval — The most common face shape. Common is boring. Look for elaborate wigs that can distract from this lackluster ordinariness.
b. Square — An unfortunately masculine shape requires a wig that will break up those harsh lines. You want people to know you’re a woman, don’t you? Unless, of course, you are a man.
c. Round — You may want to consider facial modification to correct this deformity. (See our upcoming issue for a list of Capitol Couture-recommended enhancement surgeons.)
d. Long — Saddle this equine face shape with volume and width to give yourself a more curved, feminine appearance. (However, if equestrian fashion is back in style, procure a mane-like wig and flaunt that elongated visage!)
e. Heart — Disguise a cumbersome forehead by hiding it altogether. With a curtain of heavy bangs, no one will ever know.
f. Triangle — A pointed chin of such misshape can make people uncomfortable, especially around food. Consider facial modification to correct this.
2. Fibers (Fig. 2)
Remember: If it wasn’t grown on someone’s head, you don’t want it on yours. Locks farmed from District 7 tend to be the most lustrous of all, so look for the Capitol seal of authenticity.
3. Hairline
It’s always best to leave important matters like wig sizing to the professionals. Visit a registered hairline specialist to ensure the perfect fit!
4. Styling
An elaborate hairstyle can draw eyes away from repulsive face shapes and other uncorrected abnormalities. Intricate forms can turn an unmemorable head into something worthy of being seen. Think of your face as a pedestal, your wig a sculpted work of art.
5. Care
Like any precious object, your wig must be cared for with diligence and respect. Using cheap styling and cleansing products can be disastrous to your wig’s lifespan. Treat your wig like a living thing, only better! (Note: True Capitol fashionistas will only wear a wig once.)

Citizens of Panem: Every quarter century, The Capitol honors the anniversary of its victory over the Districts with a special edition of the Games, The Quarter Quell.
For the Third Quarter Quell this year– and for the first time in history—your favorite victors will return as tributes. As usual, all residents are required by Capitol law to watch the Games. Insubordination will not be tolerated.
