The latest stop on Victory Tour 74 promises to ‘Make The Material Of Your Lives.' Hitch up your britches, it’s time for District 8.

The entire nation had been wondering what finery would bedeck the Victors on their visit to the Textiles District. (Who could forget the skin-tight, diamond-crusted, nude bodysuit that Cashmere wore on her D8 Victory Tour stop?)

Sadly, as their stylists led them out, it was obvious that Katniss and Peeta had opted for a more reserved look. District 12 stylist Cinna revealed that Katniss’s simple tunic was matched to her eye colour using District 8’s latest pigment matching technology. Portia added that Peeta’s jacket was made from a prototype of a new breathable silk made especially to avoid those awkward sweat patches.

The citizens of this assiduous District were chomping at the bit to see their beloved heroes! Additional Peacekeepers were called in, parting the crowd to allow the car bearing Katniss and Peeta through the streets.
District 8 is one of the most densely populated Districts, and yet has an unparalleled camaraderie amongst its people who enjoy the cozy proximity of their rows of houses, in a wholesome sense of community. Most citizens of D8 work in one or more of the factories that produce Panem’s fabrics and textiles, making it also one of the most industrious areas in the country.

Katniss and Peeta were informed that every colour of the spectrum runs through the veins of the District 8 textile workers as evidenced by the highlight of the tour: the District’s orange coloured streams.
On the Victors’ return to the Justice Building, the crowd had massed once more and was positively throbbing with excitement. Several citizens had to be removed from the crowd by Peacekeepers as they fainted from the sheer elation of the moment. Every time the Peacekeepers tried to keep the fervent crowd back they surged forward again, eager to be near the conquering couple.

Mellark and Everdeen seemed stunned by this display of admiration, and Everdeen shyly peered out at the cheering crowd from under Mellark’s protective arm. As they gave their speeches, their voices were barely audible over the constant roar.

Head Peacekeeper, Aurelius Alba, was overheard suggesting that perhaps the people of District 8 were particularly enthusiastic about meeting the pair after hearing that Mellark had bequeathed a portion of his Victor’s prize to District 11.
We can only hope that the momentum continues to build as Katniss and Peeta progress next to District 7.
